How do I adjust sensitivity for Secure Derivative?

Secure Derivative - Protection that automatically follows the content (even with Save-As or copy & paste) by calculating and comparing the "DNA" of each file.

  • Derivative Threshold - Measure of similarity (DNA) between files, default recommended is 5%. This value represents what the similarity between two files should be (a protected one and an unprotected one) before automatically extending protection using the Secure Derivative technology.

Example: If "protected_file.txt"and "new_data.doc"are at least 5% similar, the "new_data.doc" would be automatically added to a circle where the original data DNA resides.

  • fhtools can be used in order to check DNA between two files manually (via command line)
fhtools --dna --fpath="/path/to/file1" --fpath="/path/to/file2" --normalize

Example--

File Derivatives:
c:\users\vlad\Downloads]sampleDoc1.doc: c:\Users\vlad\downloads\sampleDoc2.doc: 98.3749%
